Chelsea Hoffman - Suspended from Gather.com

It has been over a month since the last post was made here, and the reason for that is because we had to take some time and step away from Chelsea to deal with what was going on in our own family. 

It was brought to my attention this evening, that Gather.com has decided to suspend Chelsea for 1 week. After receiving this information via phone, I was able to confirm this through a post on her Facebook page.

Gather.com has suspended her for using the terms "allegedly" and "accused" in her articles, though I'm not sure which ones specifically. The point is, we are happy to see that Gather.com is finally taking notice of Chelsea's writing, and how wrong she is for presenting it the way she does.  Unfortunately, she is still being allowed to write on other sites in the meantime. 

Now Moderating Comments

Sorry everyone, I've received some comments that were not so nice, so I have decided to start monitoring the comments on the blog. If your comment is constructive, does not call ANYONE names, and is not hateful, threatening, violent, or downright awful, it will be posted. 

I realize that there is a lot of emotion flying around, and it's because of that emotion, that I don't want us to stoop to a level of calling ANYONE names, making threats, being hateful, violent, or just plain mean. 

I'm sure most of you will understand and agree with this decision. I'm sorry for anyone who doesn't agree, it's the way it has to be if we are to protect our rights of free speech.

If you choose to make a comment, please keep the following in mind: Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.

Attacking Another Victim's Family

This time, Chelsea Hoffman has attacked a man, Paul Pattison, who was accidentally run over by his own car, just a few days ago, while trying to make some repairs to it. You can find the story HERE. 

The reason for this attack, is because a woman (we will call her Diane to protect her privacy), a relative of Paul, and a friend of the Woods' family, stood up to Hoffman while Hoffman was; and has continued, to make attacks on the Hill/Woods' families. 

Here is what Hoffman wrote concerning the family of Diane: 

As you can clearly see, Hoffman states that it is "dumbass shit" and "idiotic" that this man was run over by his own vehicle. The car Paul was driving stalled in the middle of a very busy road, while his 3 young boys were in the car. When Paul exited the car to move it out of the way and to repair it, he apparently forgot to put the car in park. One of Paul’s children climbed into the driver’s seat and put the car into park when he noticed something was wrong.

Paul is in critical condition, has endured multiple surgeries, and still has a long way to recovery. Don’t you think the family has enough to deal with? Shouldn’t the emphasis of this story be on the fact that this man survived this tragic accident? Shouldn’t we be telling the world that this man’s son is a hero? Why does Hoffman feel the need to call people names?

Not only has Hoffman attacked Diane in the recent past for sticking up for the Hill/Woods' family, Hoffman is now attacking Diane's family as well. 

The following posts were made to Diane while standing up for the Hill/Wood's family.

Now Diane needs some standing up of her own, and the Hill/Woods' family WILL be there to back her up every step of the way!!

In her "article", Hoffman questions whether Pattison was drunk or under the influence. A portion of that "article" is posted below. 

What an awful thing to say about someone you don't know! I don't see what having money to get the vehicle fixed has to do with anything either. The man's car stalled in the middle of the road, you do what you have to do, especially with children in the car! My BRAND NEW car has stalled out before, let alone a used car or older car. I'm sure if Pattison thought the car was a danger to his children, he wouldn't have allowed them in the vehicle. 

On Hoffman's Facebook page, she refers to Pattison as an "idiot" who managed to run himself over, and a "fucktard". Somehow, with that language, I highly doubt that she sympathizes with the family and the children involved in this horrendous ordeal, which because of Hoffman, has now gotten worse!

 

Really....It's That Funny Huh?!

It has been brought to my attention, that the Facebook page connected to this blog has been removed as of 11 p.m. October 2. 

They will be contacting Facebook to see what violations took place. Apparently Chelsea thought it was quite funny, since this was her response to the page going down. 

I will keep this blog updated on anything else that I find out. 

Copyright Infringement and Fair Use

It seems that even though Facebook removed a photo that Chelsea Hoffman had of Dana Woods, she still believes that she can use that photo. 

There is no reason for Chelsea to continue posting pictures of these two women , not even to start a discussion. There is no cold case, their killers are behind bars, and the families are simply trying to move on and mourn the loss of their loved ones. Unfortunately, Chelsea will not allow the families to do that, because she keeps posting their photo to harass one of the families. 

This photo below is copyrighted per Creative Commons and is not allowed for use for any commercial purposes. Chelsea's Facebook page is linked to her .com site where she took donations, sells merchandise, and has links to her gather.com page, in which she receives payment for every click she gets on an article of hers. This means that the photo that she continues to post is in fact copyright infringement. 

According to Section 107 of the U.S. Copyright Fair Use Law there are 4 factors to be considered in whether or not a particular use of a copyright is fair. 

1) The purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes. 

Since Chelsea's Facebook page is linked to other websites that compensate her for her work, it is not for educational or non-profit purposes, but instead it is for her commercial gain. 

2) The nature of the copyrighted work

Chelsea says: "the photo is for educational purposes as per the exceptions highlighted in U.S. copyright and fair use laws". 

The original use of the photo was to help spread awareness while the women were missing. The nature of this copyrighted work is no longer what it is being used for. It is not being used to harass the families of the women in the photo. 

3) The amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole

Chelsea used the entire image, not just a portion of the image, whether it is a screen shot or not, the entire image continues to be used. 

4) The effect of the use upon the potential market for, or value of, the copyrighted work. 

The copyright owner has explicitly expressed through reporting Chelsea on Facebook, that the photo needs to be removed. 

How would you feel if you saw someone making a $ off of your deceased loved one?

The message below came from Chelsea Hoffman, and has not been altered in ANY way. The typos are hers, not mine.

This page has been reported for spoofing/posing as Chelsea Hoffman as well as credible threats of violence which is a felony and punishable by prison time if pursued by the victim.

Furthermore I have turned the details of this page in to my attorney as well as to law enforcement in South Carolina, as well as screenshots of my address posted and the threats of violence made by members of this site.

I will be pressing criminal charges and I will be suing for slander with malicious intent since some of thedetails of this site and the blog shared by this FB page are photoshopped and false posts about me.

The first thing that I want to say about this message, is that in NO WAY is the Facebook page or this blog trying to pose as Chelsea Hoffman. If that were the case, we wouldn't have such negative page names, and titles: 

i.e.:  downwithchelseahoffman@hotmail.com or Chelsea Hoffman Exposed or Justice for the Families Affected by Chelsea Hoffman.

Secondly, I don't know what the law in South Carolina is going to do, since neither the Facebook page or this blog is run by anyone who lives there. Also, your address is public information, so you can just get over that one. No threats of violence have been made either. So, yeah. 

Third, good luck pressing criminal charges for slander. Apparently you haven't educated yourself enough to know that slander means something spoken, and since this is all on the Internet and is written out, than you must know that it would be libel instead. Use a dictionary sometime. 


Oh and by the way Chelsea, according to the same definition of libel above, it states the following "Libel against the reputation of a person who has died will allow surviving members of the family to bring an action for damages. Most states provide for a party defamed by a periodical to demand a published retraction".

Feeling a Little Scared?

It appears that Chelsea Hoffman is feeling a bit scared these days and has the need to protect herself physically. I can guarantee that if anyone is after her physically, it isn't anyone I know.

Also, it seems that Chelsea Hoffman thinks that my blog is less than favorable, poorly designed, and doesn't hold up to her own standards of hating on people. For that, I apologize Chelsea. I will try harder to point out your wrong doings from now on and try to be a little meaner about it. 

Oh and by the way Chelsea, and my readers, nothing on this blog has been photo-shopped, so yeah, you must be talking about another blog that is writing bad things about you as well. If you (my readers) want to see the whole print-screen, please send me an email.

I'm Not Pulling This Stuff From My Butt!

So the other day, I set up a Google Alert, one for myself (not going to reveal that one, sorry), one for the Chelsea Hoffman Exposed Facebook Page, one on Chelsea Hoffman, and a few others. 

The proof is in the pudding people. I'm seriously not pulling this stuff from my butt. Here are a few other recent examples of what Chelsea is doing. 

Make sure to not only read the articles, but the comments themselves. These comments are mostly from people who have are personally affected by her writing.

While I do realize that 3 of these links were written by the same person, it is still a PRIME example of what Chelsea is doing to these poor families who are already hurting so badly. 

This needs to STOP!

Bad Ethics

It is no hidden fact that Chelsea Hoffman gets paid to write her "articles". What Chelsea fails to do though, is add ethics to her "articles" and to her list of "accomplishments". 


Dictionary.com describes ethics as 1) a system of moral principles, 2) the rules of conduct recognized in respect to a particular class of human actions or a particular group, culture, etc., 3) moral principles, as of an individual, and 4) that branch of philosophy dealing with values relating to human conduct, with respect to the rightness and wrongness of certain actions and to the goodness and badness of the motives and ends of such actions.

Moral principles, and respect.....those are words used in the above definition of ethics. 

I found an article about "The Freelance Writer's Code of Ethics", just in case any of you were interested. 

1) Plagiarism

2) Honesty

3) Reliability

4) Integrity

5) Kindness

Chelsea has broken at least 3 of these; honesty, integrity, and kindness. 

While I do realize that Chelsea does not consider herself a journalist or a reporter, I still feel that it is appropriate to point out "The Journalist Code of Ethics", seeing as there is a common theme between the two; Be Truthful and Minimize Harm. I especially like the part about minimizing harm. 

Chelsea has failed to be honest on many occasions. Not only to the family that I am affiliated with, but to many other families as well (those stories are coming). She spews lies about deceased loved ones and their families. She is the farthest thing from honesty that you could be. 

Chelsea has also failed to have any kind of integrity at all. I'm not going to spell out what integrity means since it runs on the same lines as being honest, and I believe most of you have an idea already, but there is a link if you need to take a peek. 

Lastly, let us not forget about kindness. Most notable in the definition, is "friendly feeling". I have a feeling most of those who are reading this are wanting to punch something right now. It is certainly no secret that Chelsea is not friendly, at all. She has spelled that out many times for us all.

You can see for yourself how "friendly" Chelsea is. Stop allowing Chelsea to pull the wool over your eyes (if it was ever there). She is not a professional in any manner what-so-ever. Her "work" is unethical, dishonest, not done with integrity, and certainly isn't nice. I don't have to point any of this out, because it's in all of the articles she's written. You can see for yourself, just do a search on her. You'll see what I mean. 

The Same Thing...Over and Over Again....

Something that I've noticed, over and over again, is that if you conduct a Google search for "criminal profiler" and/or "crime analyst", the same results show up, and while that is fine and dandy, and completely expected, it's the actual results that are of interest here. 

You can search and find the results for yourself right now or when you finish reading this. Here is exactly what I searched: 

"Crime Analyst" + "Criminal Profiler"

Now, the thing that I keep noticing over and over again, is that with each result, there are two common factors.

1) Education

2) Experience

Both those, of which Chelsea lacks. 

Take this example. Scroll down to the bottom of the article (you can read the whole thing if you'd like). I'll wait.

Ok, the instructors who are listed as part of the course, are: Mr. Brent E. Turvey, MS, Forensic Scientist and Criminal Profiler.  Mr. Turvey has 2 Bachelor's Degrees, 1 Master's Degree. He is the author and co-author of what looks to be college textbooks. 

The second instructor is Mr. Shaw Mikulay, PhD, Associate Professor of Psychology and Vice Prsident at the Academy of Behavioral Profiling. Mr. Mikulay has his Bachelor's, Master's, and his PhD in Psychology, along with a secondary Master's in Industrial Management. He is also the Associate Professor in the Psychology Department at Elgin Community College 

It is easy to see how these gentlemen are both educated, and have experience.

My next example. Mr. Gregg McCary. You can find his credentials here. 

Mr. McCary holds a Bachelor's Degree, a Master's Degree, and has worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). If you keep scrolling down the list, you will see for yourself that Mr. McCary is VERY well qualified.

Again, proof of education and experience.

There are many more examples out there, do the searches yourself. See what you can find and dig up. 

Chelsea wants to keep trying to get people to think that she is NOT a crime analyst or criminal profiler, but that she is a combination of them both. Well, I think the proof is in the pudding, that she is neither of them. This combination title that she uses, is something that she has made up in her own mind. I have yet to find any proof of its existence. When I do, I'll let you know, and I will gladly change this post and other posts. 

Chelsea, please provide me with some proof of this so-called title that you have. A paper document, education, a website, anything. 

Until then, please stop calling yourself a "criminal analyst and profiler". You lack the education, skills, and experience needed to call yourself that, and you are discrediting the work of those who can REALLY call themselves a Criminal Analysts and/or a Criminal Profiler. 

Lies, Lies, Lies

Again, Chelsea is stating that if anyone wants her to make changes to her articles, to produce to her the errors in question. This was brought up in our post titled "How Chelsea Hoffman Hurts People". When given the list of errors, Chelsea immediately deleted the posts, and never contacted anyone about trying to make ANY of the corrections. Once again, she is just full of lies. She wants to make everyone think that she's willing to correct the problems, but once they are brought to her attention, she refuses to acknowledge them. 

How can you ask for something, be given it, and then completely dismiss it?

Below, is the list of errors that Chelsea was given, that were never acknowledged.

If Chelsea truly cared about her "writing" and her image, she would do well to contact the family, or at the very least, make the changes that were pointed out. Maybe then, this can all stop, but probably not. If it's not one family, it's going to be another, and it will continue until Chelsea has such a bad reputation, that no one will want her to write for them; except, maybe the National Enquirer. 

Another lie? 

No, I'm not talking about the "fifth semester" comment, there's not really anyway that I can prove that, all I know is that she's been enrolled at Ashworth College since September 2011. I can point out though, the fact that she blatantly states that she got "straight A's"....followed by the "except for one class, got a B". Hmmmm let me think about that. You can't have straight A's if you have a B. So no Chelsea, you didn't get straight A's. 

As you can see, it's not just the facts about families or deceased individuals that Chelsea chooses to lie about. She lies to herself, her family, and her "followers".  

Time to get the facts straight Chelsea.

Who IS Chelsea Hoffman?

Chelsea Hoffman is a self proclaimed "crime analyst and profiler". 

A crime analysts job is to "study previous crimes and criminals, looking for patterns". The second part of the job involves using "data developed during the studies to predict future crimes". A third part of the job is "to communicate the findings of the studies in a way that makes the information useful".

"Criminal profiling is the act of developing a psychological profile of an offender based on the state of the crime scene. Profiling is often done by a forensic psychologist -- someone who has studied the criminal mind".


That being said, Chelsea Hoffman is NEITHER a crime analyst, or a criminal profiler.

Why is Chelsea Hoffman not a crime analyst?

According to The International Association of Crime Analysts, an applicant for certification "must have 3 full-time years of analytical experience. This may include internships and volunteer work, and time can be combined and/or prorated".

Chelsea Hoffman is currently attending Ashworth University and is working on an online Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. 

Why does this matter? Because in order to be a crime analyst, you must, according to The International Association of Crime Analysts, have 1) education or 2) volunteer work/internships. According to Chelsea's own website, where she lays out her "Bragging Rights", she has assisted in the "Satara Stratton (Silver) disappearance", and the "Christine Lindsey Walters disappearance".

Looks to me that she lacks both the education AND experience needed in order to call herself a Crime Analyst.

Why is Chelsea Hoffman not a criminal profiler?

Well for starters, we know that Chelsea lacks the education required to call herself a criminal profiler. We can conclude, since she has not finished her degree, that she has not studied the "criminal mind". 


So what DOES Chelsea do?

Chelsea loves to put her own "spin" on things.  She likes to stick her own thoughts and opinions into the articles that she creates. I'm not going to say that she writes, because if she did, she would have a shred of decency in what came out of her brain. For most of you who have read anything by Chelsea, you know exactly what I'm talking about. 

So back to my question as to what Chelsea REALLY does. She states that she is not a journalist or a reporter, and I agree with that. Journalists and reporters have a certain set of standards to uphold.  

Chelsea seems to have no standards at all. She defames the families of our deceased love ones and spreads lies and rumors. She does not look for patterns, predict future crimes, or make any of her information useful; all required to call oneself a crime analyst. 

I'm not sure WHAT to classify Chelsea as, other than an extremely mean-spirited individual, who cares about nothing but herself. She certainly could care less about the families that she writes about, because if she did, she would hold herself to a certain standard, refrain from spreading lies, and not defame the families involved in her "works". 

I invite every one of you to write me at the email provided on my profile, if you have been personally affected by the "works" of Chelsea Hoffman. I will be happy to publish the information you provide (anonymously if preferred) in which to gather a case together, and bring Chelsea Hoffman down together!

How Chelsea Hoffman Hurts People

An 18 year old girl by the name of Dana Marie Woods was murdered a month ago in South Carolina. Dana was a college student, studying in the hopes of one day becoming a paralegal. She was home-schooled, and graduated with dual credits, and was able to start college when she was 15. She was a good girl. Always looking to help someone who was in need. Always talking as though everyone she met was her friend. It was because of her personality, that she was taken from the place too soon. 

Dana was reported as a missing person in the early morning of August 27, 2012. She had been doing a favor for her mother and for her aunt the previous evening. She was not out running the streets or up to no good. As SOON as the family realized that Dana had done something out of character in not returning home, they immediately began looking for her. 

The family did everything right. They immediately contacted police and began searching for Dana and her friend June, who was with her at the time of her disappearance. At the time, police could not officially report Dana or June as missing persons, but instead were reported as "be on the look out" or BOLO. It was not until meeting with the police later that day, that the girls were officially deemed as missing persons. 

Why do I know all of this? Well, because I was there. I have first hand knowledge of everything that "went down" between the time Dana was running errands for her mother, and the time she was laid to rest. 

Who WASN'T there? Chelsea Hoffman. 

The following "story" happened between September 26 and September 27, 2012. 

Chelsea was approached by a family member of Dana, and was asked to remove the articles that she had published, because they contained insensitive and incorrect information. It was after Chelsea refused to remove the articles, and began "bashing" the family and friends of Dana, that $hit hit the fan. I married into the family of Dana, my life has been threatened (in a nice, loving way), that by marrying into this family, I would not hurt any of them. I now know why. You do not mess with this family, it will come back to haunt you. Little did I know, that I would be doing some of my own "haunting" one day; i.e. this blog. 

Here is the "response" from Chelsea, when asked to remove her articles. Please be advised, that this photo contains explicit language, so please do not read it if you might find yourself offended by it. I am choosing not to censor anything on this blog, because I want everyone to see the "true" Chelsea Hoffman. 

The "whiny jackass" Chelsea is referring to, is the sister of Dana. Nice, huh? And while we DO respect Chelsea's right to "free speech", she first needs to make sure that her information is correct and that she isn't pointing fingers at anyone. 

When the family and friends of Dana started commenting in response to the above photo, that post was deleted, and this was her response:

She was right, we were banned for our "trollish behavior". Almost every last one of us. We can though, still see her posts, so she cannot protect herself from that, unless of course she shuts down her page. There's a thought!

When it was brought to Chelsea's attention that there were facts in her articles that were incorrect, here was her response: (I know it's a little blurry, sorry)

So even though Chelsea stated "there are no factual errors in the article that warrants editing", she goes on the say "there is an instance of me saying the car was burning when Dana Wood's body was discovered when it wasn't burning anymore".  Sounds to me like she just admitted that there were factual errors. She goes on to state that "it's time to just move on", and while Chelsea may feel that it is time for us to move on, we are still grieving and still hurt by the insensitivity that she has shown for our loss. She again goes on to say, that it's pretty much not worth her time to change it. A REAL blogger, reporter, journalist, someone who had a heart, would be willing to do, since it only takes a few seconds of her precious time to do. 

At one point, Chelsea said herself, to provide her with anything that wasn't factual. We did. Why can't you see it? Well, because as soon as it was posted, it was immediately deleted from her page. The information contained in the following photo was posted to Chelsea at LEAST 3 times before being deleted. Fortunately for all of you reading this, someone had a screenshot of what was given to her before it was deleted! :)

On Chelsea's Twitter account, she posted this:

While at the moment, the tweet is still up, the link to the Facebook comment regarding it, has been deleted by her. Covering something up Chelsea?

I won't deny it, Chelsea was called some pretty ugly names in this whole process by friends and family. I am not trying to cover that up. I am though, simply trying to expose the truth behind Chelsea, and her heartless actions and comments towards a simple request for a correction of information and/or to take the articles down from a family who is grieving.

Chelsea has called our family and friends trailer trash, whiny jackasses, and even told one friend of the family, that her daughter "liked taking loads to the face :P" This comment as well as the one following it, were both deleted by Chelsea.

Along with the "load" comment, she posted the following:

She then uploaded the following photo to her Facebook account (this photo has since been taken down by Chelsea). You can see from the photo, that the insult  was not taken lightly, as seen by the comment. 

So this is our story, right now, as it stands. I'm sure there will be more, which is why the blog is now here. I'm very interested in hearing anyone else's stories as well. Email me at the link in my profile to share your story, let's get it out there how awful this woman is, as if we don't already know. Let's help each other to keep her from posting heinous information about the friends and family of our deceased loved ones. 

My questions to Chelsea: Why, if you're going to say and post the things that you do, do you not keep them up? What are you afraid of? Why can you dish it out, but not take it? What are you hiding? If you're such an "extremely blunt and say exactly what's on my mind without wearing "kid gloves" to do it" kind of person, why take down everything that you posted? If you believe so strongly and appreciate your first amendment rights and believe in anti-censorship, then why do you keep deleting and blocking posts?
